My Bookish Confessions is a new feature here at Such A Novel Idea. We started this weekly feature to reveal some of our secret quirks when it comes to all things books.
My Bookish Confession (19)
I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to books—some of those pet peeves I try to overlook and succumb, but I can’t always do that and truth be told, it bothers me because it can and has hindered my reading experience. I do not like when book series end on an even number.
I don’t like even numbers—honestly, if I am being very honest, I think they are bad luck…so I’m a little suspicious of things that happen or end on even numbers; which is odd because I am born on the 22nd, but that is the only even number that I can say I trust. Lucky for me I was born in an odd month and year, so everything pans out.
These lovely series all end on an even number and I love them, I really do love them (well, I haven’t read the Hush, Hush Saga yet, but I know I will love it) but it just seems that the story is never truly complete when they end evenly (though, I haven’t read the final book to The Mortal Instruments either).
Another saga that ended in four and though for some it may seem complete, to me the end felt very rushed and I would have liked there to be more. Also, I very much hated how she ended the book with a passion.
I can’t say why even numbers bother me so much, but they do and I can always feel in the back of my mind that little itch saying “this ends on an even,” because I am always, always wanting more.
It seems like a minor and trivial thing but sometimes, it is just not okay. And I just really do not like even numbers at all. No, I don’t really have a reason why, I just claim it as one of my odd quirks, but seriously, I do not like even numbers. I flip out if anything is left on an even number. Is it rational? Probably not, but that is me 🙂
So, that’s my eccentric quirk for the week. What’s YOUR bookish confession?
