It’s Top Ten Tuesday (hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl) the topic is:

Top Ten Best Character Names

Top Ten Best Character Names

Jess

Shadow Moon from American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Cricket Bell from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Jude Sweetwine from I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Lucero-Elisa de Riquza from Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson

Mrs. Whatsit from A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’engle

Charles Wallace Murry from A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle

Alaska Young from Looking for Alaska by John Green

Magnus Bane from a thousand different Shadowhunters series by Cassandra Clare

Chaol Westfall from A Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Sturmhond (Too-Clever-Fox) from Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
(ALSO, Leigh Bardugo is a FANTASTIC name!)

AND… All the baby names that didn’t end up getting used:

Simon Lewis/Lovelace from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
(Husband and I seriously had the HARDEST time picking boy names. Simon was the only name we agreed on,  but I was afraid he’d be called a Chipmunk for the rest of his life.  I also wanted something a little more unique, so when we came across Lincoln, it just won outright.  Still, every time I read about Simon, I think fondly of how much this character has influenced my life!)

Emerson Cole from Hourglass by Myra McEntire
(I loved this name so much, if Lincoln had been a girl, I would have fought HARD for Emerson as her name)

Coraline Jones from Coraline by Neil Gaiman
(This was the name we both agreed on for a girl after I found out Emma was #1 in the baby names lists for 2017.  As someone who had the most popular name from the year I was born, I’ve grown up resenting my parents for that very reason.  So, Emma was marked off.)

Emma Carstairs from Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
(Seriously, it’s just so beautiful!)

Aleya

Kvothe from The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

Rowan Whitethorn from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve already decided that my husband and I are using the name Rowan if we ever have a boy.

Demelza Poldark from Poldark by Winston Graham

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Vasilisa Dragomir from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Elias Veturius from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Nikolai Lantsov from Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo

I think this is one of my favorite Top Ten questions so far. I love names and the characters that go with them. Honorable mention: Hermione Granger, because you have to love the beauty of her name and her character.
